About the course
The course is for managers who are responsible for people, processes and results but are not health and safety specialists. It links safety to everyday management decisions and shows the practical actions a manager can take to reduce risk in their own area. It does not turn participants into safety professionals; it gives managers the knowledge they need to deal with safety within their own responsibilities. The programme suits any industry and ends with an assessment.

Course syllabus
7 modules
Why safety is part of a manager's normal job rather than an extra burden, and how leadership and day-to-day management shape safer work.
What hazards and risks are, how a risk assessment is carried out, and a practical way to rank risks so that priorities are clear.
How risks are reduced: the control measures available, how to choose suitable ones for the main risks, and the order in which to apply them.
A manager's safety responsibilities, why legal and organisational requirements matter, and how a health and safety management system works inside a company.
The main hazards people meet at work: machinery and equipment, vehicles, electricity, work at height and in confined spaces, chemicals, fire, manual handling, vibration, temperature and other operational hazards.
Why incidents and near misses should be investigated, how to find their immediate and underlying causes, and how to use the findings to prevent a recurrence.
How safety performance is measured: performance indicators, proactive and reactive monitoring, audits and other sources of information that show where to improve.
